Soccer
Soccer is offered twice during the year, once in the spring and
again in the fall.
Registration for Spring Soccer is held in January and Fall Soccer
in June. Contact the sports office for specific dates. Boys
and Girls leagues may be separated if participation numbers are
adequate. Otherwise, leagues will be co-ed. Volunteer coaches
are needed for all programs.
Spring Soccer
Spring Soccer is for boys and girls ages 6-11 years of age as of
August 1st the previous year.
The age group breakdown is as follows:
U8 6
& 7 year olds
U10 8 & 9 year olds
U12 10 & 11 year olds
Typically our U8 and U10 teams participate in the Campbell
County league and our U12 programs are a part of the Central
Virginia Regional Soccer Association (CVRSA) www.lynchburgunited.com
The spring season begins around March 1st and concludes just
before Memorial Day in May.
Most all matches are played on Saturday mornings and some travel
is required to neighboring counties. All home matches are played at
English Park (formerly known as Staunton River Park).
The YMCA Sports Office will provide players with a team jersey and
socks. Each player must provide their own shin guards, and soccer
cleats. Soccer cleats are different from other cleats in that they
do not have a spike on the toe of the shoe. Check with the local
sporting goods retailer or contact the sports office for additional
assistance.
