| 1971 | The Altavista Area YMCA was chartered by the YMCA of the U.S.A. |
| 1973 | New Altavista Area YMCA opens with the area's only indoor pool. |
| 1977 | Three championship tennis courts built at the YMCA. |
| 1984 | YMCA opens new fitness center. |
| 1986 | New Child Care Center is built at the YMCA. |
| 1987 | YMCA begins preschool and school-aged Child Care Programs. |
| 1988 | YMCA opens school-aged Child Care Programs in six Campbell County Schools. |
| 1994 | Four million dollar construction project includes new Athletic Center and renovated Family Center. |
| 1997 | YMCA capital project is voted the nation's "Outstanding Fund Raising Project" by the YMCA of the U.S.A. |
| 2001 | Aquatic Facility undergoes a $500,000 face lift. |
| 2002 | New HAGS Playground installed at Family Center through a grant from the Timken Foundation. |

YMCA completes $1.5 million dollar Athletic Center- Expansion and Renovation Project.
